OVERVIEW

This CityHunt route from the area of The Old City Centre will give you the opportunity to discover urban treasures in a pedestrian site, safe from the Bucharest traffic. The discovery type game will test the rapidity and cleverness of the team.

The urban puzzle and the challenges we have prepared for this event will carry you on the streets full of history of The Old City Centre, which before being the most renowned area for having fun in Bucharest, was the meeting place for merchants all over the world (Greeks, Albanians, Bulgarians, Austrians, Serbs, Jews).

During this treasure hunt event the teams will have fun wandering through the city, at their own pace, searching for the objectives. The route is sprinkled with challenges and sometimes time-sensitive competitions that take place in the checkpoint.

We will meet all the teams at the finish, to award and celebrate the winners, and the first drink is included in the price of the event.

Location info

The heart of The Old City Centre, Lipscani Street has been documented since 1589 with the original name “Ulita cea mare” (“The big lane”). The name Lipscani came from the merchants that brought their goods from Lipsca-Leipzig. The buildings on this street were built in neo-classical and neo-baroque style  mostly in XIX century.

Selari street received its name from the trade with saddles (RO: sei) that was taking place on the street in those times. The street was also famous for a brothel (from here comes the name of the club “Bordello”). Also on this street, the legend of the most famous courtesan, that picked her man after their wallet, was born. Zaraza fell crazily in love and remained faithful to a singer Cristian Vasile.

Covaci street was well known for street hustlers that were selling chocolate and cigarettes. Also on this street, the legend of the renowned “La Iordache” restaurant was born. It is said that one night, an innkeeper remained without sheep guts for sausages and placed the mix of minced meat and spices directly on the grill and the product was called “mititei”

Another well known story is the one of “Dracula’s Wall” from the basement of the Old Yard (Curtea Veche) where traces of cauldrons  that belonged to Vlad Tepes were found. It is said that he is still haunting this place.

The French Street, initially named “Ulita Islicarilor” (islic = expensive fur cap) was the first street with sewerage and paved with cubic stone.

Objectives on the route

During this fun event you will discover numerous historical monuments among which we mention: Stavropoleos Church; Saint Anton Church, the oldest from Bucharest, with a history of over 500 years; King’s Valley, also known as the Mecca-Villacrosse passage; Manuc’s Inn, with a history of over 200 years.

TESTIMONIALS
We found ourselves doing things we’d never normally do — chatting with locals, completing playful challenges, even laughing at how seriously we took some of the tasks. It was spontaneous, interactive and much more engaging than a classic walking tour. And in the end, the best part was simply sharing the experience with a great team.
What I appreciated most was how the competitive element naturally brought us closer together. While trying to score as many points as possible, we ended up learning more about each other, about the city, and even about ourselves. It’s the kind of experience that encourages discovery — both literally and in unexpected ways.
