It only takes few minutes to start a new urban challenge.

Are you ready for a challenge? We transformed the Old City Center area into a big puzzle.

You and your team will have to be the first ones to discover the hidden treasures while solving, for extra points, fun challenges. Good speed, sharp-witted and excellent teamwork will help you win.

We will meet in front of the stairs of BNR (National Romanian Bank). We will establish the teams and right before we start off the adventure you will receive pieces of the puzzle that consists of photo and location indications and challenges. The trail will end with a well deserved hydratation break where we will have a juice, water or even a glass of beer while we will calculate the scores and establish the winners. The winning teams  will be rewarded for their observation spirit.

Before being the most famous area for having fun in Bucharest, The Old City Center was a place for merchants all over the world (Greeks, Albanians, Bulgarians, Austrians, Serbs, Jews).

The heart of The Old City Center, Lipscani Street has been documented since 1589 with the original name “Ulita cea mare” (“The big lane”). The name Lipscani came from the merchants that brought their goods from Lipsca-Leipzig. The buildings on this street were built in neo-classical and neo-baroque style  mostly in XIX century.

Selari street received its name from the trade with saddles (RO: sei) that was taking place on the street in those times. The street was also famous for a brothel (from here comes the name of the club “Bordello”). Also on this street, the legend of the most famous courtesan, that picked her man after their wallet, was born. Zaraza fell crazily in love and remained faithful to a singer Cristian Vasile.

Covaci street was well known for street hustlers that were selling chocolate and cigarettes. Also on this street, the legend of the renowned “La Iordache” restaurant was born. It is said that one night, an innkeeper remained without sheep guts for sausages and placed the mix of minced meat and spices directly on the grill and the product was called “mititei”

Another well known story is the one of “Dracula’s Wall” from the basement of the Old Yard (Curtea Veche) where traces of cauldrons  that belonged to Vlad Tepes were found. It is said that he is still haunting this place.

The French Street, initially named “Ulita Islicarilor” (islic = expensive fur cap) was the first street with sewerage and paved with cubic stone.

Valea Regilor (King’s Valley), also named Mecca-Villacrosse passage, has borrowed the name of a famous coffee shop in the area.

it only takes few minutes to start a new urban challenge

The best thing is that together with competitiveness and attempts to get as many points as possible, you have a chance to learn a lot of new about your team, about the city, about yourself… because such type of activities encourages discoveries. Both literally and figurative, and this is an exceptional feature, from my point of view.
We took pictures of the dog of a passerby and we rolled an orange on the floor to realize after that we have to throw it at the target using our mouth, but the most beautiful thing was that I spent time with a wonderful team.
